I-Octane scores again

 On the heels of his hit single ‘Mama you alone’ which is now number 1 on the Jamaica countdown charts, cultural artiste I-Octane has once again hit the jackpot by releasing a slew of new singles that are currently heating up the airwaves. Although ‘Mama you alone’ is still riding high, I-Octane has once again raised the bar and his four new songs (Thank you Father, Searching, Lose a friend, Think a little time) have struck a chord that is resonating throughout every strata of society. His latest release ‘Thank you Father’ on the ‘Give Thanks Riddim’ is a heartfelt prayer to the Almighty, where Octane gives thanks for His love, guidance, and protection. In this song, the message of putting the Almighty first is evident and people no matter what their religious affiliation all attest to the truth of the lyrics. The catchy rhythm that fuses a blend of dancehall, reggae, and hip-hop makes the song all the more appealing, and Octane’s unique lyrical talent only serves to cement the fact that this song is a hit. His other single ‘Searching’ is every language teacher’s dream. I-Octane puts a creative spin on the concept of trouble by using personification and making trouble into an individual. Throughout the song he repeatedly asks, “Trouble, why yu searching for me?” and bemoans the fact that no matter what he does, trouble seems to be actively seeking to find him. In an age where trouble comes in many forms, this song rings true for many, as it epitomizes the internal struggle that they battle with daily. Octane delights his fans by straying from the norm and putting this song on a dancehall riddim. This track has allowed him to keep his fans on their toes as well as to display his versatility. ‘Lose a friend’ is another recent project that has garnered such wide appeal that it has become somewhat of an anthem. On this track produced by Truckback Records, the sadness and pain is evident in the vocals as I-Octane mourns the loss of a close friend. This time I-Octane shares the experience of the many times that he has been pushed aside and treated badly but encourages people to keep pressing on and overcome the obstacles.
